Can I be denied final expense insurance?

Simplified-issue applications ask about a short list of "knock-out" conditions — for example, active cancer treatment, recent stroke or heart attack, dialysis, or terminal diagnoses. A yes to a knock-out question typically means the simplified-issue product declines the application. That is not the end of the road: the applicant is generally eligible for a guaranteed-issue policy from the same or a different carrier.

Guaranteed-issue policies, by design, do not deny within the stated age band (typically ages 50–85). The insurer accepts anti-selection risk by attaching a graded death benefit: if the insured dies of a non-accidental cause during the first two policy years, the beneficiary receives a return of premiums plus interest rather than the full face amount. Accidental death is paid in full from day one.

If I'm declined by one carrier, can I apply to another?

Yes. Underwriting varies by carrier — a decline from one company is not automatic elsewhere. A licensed agent can shop the case.
